LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, November 6, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Outfame, an AI-powered growth service for Instagram and TikTok accounts based in Los Angeles, has published Instagram Growth Statistics 2026, a study of follower growth built from its own customer data. Across 981 customer accounts measured at day 30, the median Instagram account gained 346 followers in its first 30 days on the service, equal to 15.8 percent of its starting count, and 86 percent of the accounts gained followers.

The figures come from daily follower-count readings. Outfame records the public follower count of each customer account once a day while the account is on an active paid plan, starting the day growth begins. The study draws on 164,963 daily readings from 7,271 Instagram accounts that started between Feb. 1 and May 31, 2026, followed through Oct. 29, 2026.

Most of the growth arrived early. The typical account that grew over 90 days had made 62 percent of its 90-day gain by day 30, based on 264 such accounts. Across all 340 accounts measured at both day 30 and day 90, 78 percent of the combined 90-day net gain came in the first 30 days. The median gain rose to 483 followers at day 60, across 577 accounts, and to 533 followers at day 90, across 417 accounts.

Results varied widely around the median. The middle half of accounts gained between 73 and 549 followers in the first 30 days.

Starting size changed the percentage far more than the raw gain. Accounts that began with fewer than 1,000 followers gained a median of 341 followers in 30 days, a 69.4 percent increase, and 94 percent of them grew. Accounts with 1,000 to 9,999 followers gained a median of 359, or 12.5 percent, with 90 percent growing. Accounts with 10,000 to 99,999 followers gained a median of 288, about 1 percent of their starting count, and 70 percent of them grew. Accounts above 100,000 followers were left out because too few were measured.

Travel accounts posted the highest median first-30-day gain of the nine niches measured, at 379 followers across 138 accounts. Health and wellness followed at 361 and fitness at 346. Food reached 341, music 324 and fashion 310. Beauty accounts gained a median of 205, art 187 and business 130. Each niche is the main interest Outfame's AI assigned from the account's public profile and posts, and niches with fewer than 40 measured accounts are not shown.

The study places the customer figures next to numbers Instagram and Meta have published. Instagram reached 3 billion monthly active users in September 2025, according to TechCrunch. Instagram said in April 2026 that 75 percent of its recommendations in the U.S. now come from original posts. Meta's apps averaged 3.64 billion daily active people in September 2026, according to the company's third-quarter results.

Gain at day 30, 60 or 90 is the reading closest to that day, within three days, minus the first reading, and only accounts still on a plan that day are counted. Medians are used so a few very large accounts do not distort the result. The study excludes 394 accounts whose count jumped above five times or fell below one-fifth of the starting count, usually after a username change or a failed reading.

"The first month does most of the work: the typical account in our data had made 62 percent of its 90-day growth by day 30," the Outfame team said. "The size and niche tables show what that first month looks like for accounts like yours."

The full study, with the tables by starting size and niche, the method and a ready-made citation, is free to read and quote on outfame.com. Outfame plans start at $49 for the first month.
