RICHARDSON, TX AND SAN FRANCISCO, CA, UNITED STATES, October 6, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Voltaiq, the leader in Battery AI software, today announced a partnership with the Batteries and Energy to Advance Commercialization and National Security (BEACONS) center at The University of Texas at Dallas to deploy the Voltaiq Enterprise Battery AI platform across BEACONS' battery prototyping and test facility. The goal is to help U.S. battery companies developing cells for defense applications move from prototype to qualification faster.

BEACONS was established with a $30 million award from the U.S. Department of War (DOW) through the Manufacturing Capability Expansion and Investment Prioritization (MCEIP) Directorate in the Office of Industrial Base Policy. BEACONS plays a key role in the Department's Pathfinder program, which speeds adoption of new battery technologies and builds onshore manufacturing capability. The center serves as the bridge from concept to combat-ready, with a dual-use strategy that brings civilian battery technology into defense applications. BEACONS also works with the DOW and industry partners to set battery standards for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Defense Batteries Demand Traceability

Defense systems run at extreme temperatures, take high shock and vibration, and often sit in storage for long periods before they must work in a critical application on demand. The challenge isn't simply building a battery that works. It's creating the traceability, data and evidence needed to prove that a promising technology is ready for defense applications. Using Voltaiq, BEACONS will capture materials, recipes, equipment settings, process parameters and cycling data for every prototype, connected in a single digital thread from materials through test.

"Securing the U.S. battery industrial base means giving innovators a trusted place to build, test and prove their technology," said Dr. Kyeongjae "KJ" Cho, Director of BEACONS and Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at UT Dallas. "Voltaiq gives BEACONS and our partners the data foundation to show exactly how each cell was made and how it performed, along with the AI analytics essential to accelerated learning cycles to rapidly commercialize batteries for defense programs."

Secure, Real-Time Access for Every Customer

Voltaiq supports ITAR requirements and maintains SOC2 Type 2 compliance. It enables BEACONS to securely share results automatically, with each customer seeing only its own data. Customers can monitor and analyze their cells as they cycle in real time, instead of waiting weeks for a data package. The data arrives in the same common format used across the network of battery labs and manufacturers already on the Voltaiq platform, and customers who run Voltaiq internally can compare BEACONS results directly with their own.

"Many of the teams we support are small, fast-moving companies preparing for defense customers," said Cho. "With Voltaiq, they can see their results from the moment a battery starts production, through end-of-line and quality testing, so our staff can focus on building and testing cells instead of preparing reports."

Following a Proven Model

The partnership mirrors Voltaiq's decade-long work with leading pilot lines and test labs spanning three continents.

"For defense applications, battery performance isn't enough—you have to be able to prove how a cell was built, what went into it and how it performed," said Tal Sholklapper, CEO and co-founder of Voltaiq. "BEACONS is building that critical capability for America's battery innovators. Together, we're giving battery companies a way to prove their technology with a complete, secure and AI-ready record from materials through test, so they can learn faster and get promising technologies to market sooner."
