AndaSeat Positions Novis Series Around More Fragmented Workdays Ahead of Labor Day 2026

The latest U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data show that 5.6% of employed people ages 20 to 24 held multiple jobs in July 2026, up from 4.7% in July 2025. Among women in the same age group, the rate increased from 5.3% to 7.3%. Across all workers, 8.6 million people were multiple jobholders in July.
Separate BLS time-use data illustrate another dimension of this pattern. In 2025, 41.2% of multiple jobholders did some or all of their work at home on days they worked, compared with 33.7% of single jobholders. Multiple jobholders also averaged 7.97 hours of work on days they worked, compared with 7.63 hours among single jobholders.
These figures do not indicate what type of furniture those workers use, nor do they suggest that every person with multiple jobs works at a computer. They do, however, point to a broader Labor Day question: when work is divided across employers, locations and time blocks rather than contained within one conventional shift, what should a basic home seat be expected to provide?

The Workday Is Becoming Less Like One Continuous Shift

The traditional office model assumes that a worker arrives at one location, uses one workstation and completes most paid work within one scheduled block.

It also notes that short breaks during computer work can help reduce discomfort.
The more limited role of a chair is to provide a consistent foundation during the periods when seated work does occur.


Built-In Lumbar Support Reduces Dependence on a Separate Setup Step

Novis uses a 5 cm raised lumbar contour integrated directly into the backrest.
Rather than requiring a detachable pillow to establish the chair’s primary lower-back shape, the backrest itself projects forward in the lumbar region. AndaSeat designed the contour to create immediate lower-back contact when the user sits deeper into the chair or leans against the backrest.

NIOSH’s home-workstation guidance similarly notes that primary seated posture should provide support around the natural inward curve of the lower back and contrasts supportive seating with ordinary flat-backed chairs that leave the lower-back area unsupported.
Novis is not presented as a medical device or as a solution for back pain. Its integrated lumbar contour provides a defined support shape before optional accessories are added.


Molded Foam Creates a Consistent Seating Foundation

The second core element is the Novis seat and backrest foam.
AndaSeat specifies 60 kg/m³ cold-cure foam, using a molded structure intended to balance cushioning with resistance under body weight. The company uses the same stated density across the Novis support surfaces rather than relying on loosely cut cushioning.
The seat also incorporates side sections raised by approximately 5 cm. These contours provide lateral definition around the thighs while leaving sufficient space for ordinary position changes.
For a chair used repeatedly across separate work or study blocks, the value of this design is straightforward: the primary contact surfaces do not require a different configuration each time the user returns to the chair.
The specifications do not guarantee that one foam density or seat contour will suit every body. User weight, dimensions and preference remain relevant. Novis is therefore available in L and XL versions rather than relying on one physical size for its complete stated user range.


Practical Adjustment Covers Different Work Blocks Without Complex Controls

Novis provides up to 155 degrees of backrest recline, a 15-degree rocking mode, 10 cm of seat-height adjustment and 7 cm of vertical armrest adjustment.
The system is deliberately more straightforward than the multidirectional mechanisms used on higher-tier chairs.
Seat height establishes the basic relationship with the desk. Armrest height adjusts the forearm-support level. Backrest recline allows the torso angle to change, while rocking introduces smaller movement around a selected sitting position.
These controls can correspond with different activity states without requiring users to manage numerous independent mechanisms.
An upright configuration may be used during keyboard work or calls. A moderate recline can serve reading or reviewing content after a work block. A deeper recline is available when the chair is no longer being used for active desk work.
None of these seated positions substitutes for leaving the chair. NIOSH recommends changing equipment or tasks where appropriate and incorporating breaks rather than treating any one posture as a permanent solution.


Two Sizes Address Different Users Within the Same Product Concept

Novis L and XL extend the same basic design across different body ranges.
AndaSeat currently recommends the L version for users approximately 155–190 cm in height and 35–90 kg in weight. The XL version extends the recommended range to approximately 165–210 cm and 35–120 kg. The L model uses a nylon wheelbase, while the XL uses an iron base. Both use an SGS Class 4 gas piston and 60 mm polyurethane-coated casters.
This distinction matters because an accessible chair does not become more useful by assuming every entry-level user has the same body dimensions.
The two sizes keep the feature concept consistent while changing the physical platform beneath it.
Users can also choose between PVC leather and linen upholstery according to maintenance, texture and room-design preferences. The material choice does not change the core raised lumbar profile, foam specification or primary adjustment system.


Labor Day Highlights a Different Meaning of “Everyday” Seating

This year’s labor data provide a useful reminder that the term “workday” no longer describes exactly the same schedule for every worker. Multiple jobholding increased among 20-to-24-year-olds compared with a year earlier, and BLS time-use data show that multiple jobholders are also more likely than single jobholders to perform some work at home.
