Migrant Boat Capsizes in Central Mediterranean
According to information shared with the paper, Malta’s armed forces said a single man was pulled from the sea by a commercial cargo ship near Tunisia on Friday. He was subsequently transferred to Malta, where he received medical care.
"Authorities confirm that one survivor was rescued to Malta. According to him, 50 people did not survive. The people started from Tunisia and spent 24 hours in the water," Alarm Phone, an independent organization assisting migrants attempting Mediterranean crossings to European Union countries, also stated on the US social media company X’s platform.
Earlier last week, Alarm Phone disclosed that about 150 individuals were reported missing in the central Mediterranean, linked to at least three separate boats that set off from Tunisia. It remains unclear whether the recently sunken vessel was one of those cases.
